History
A transportation research center was established firstly in 1988 by the
appointment of ministry of road and transportation (MRT) as the transport and
road research and training center (TRRTC). After in 1999 the deputy of training,
research and technology was established in MRT, the transportation research
institute (TRI) was begun to form and its development continues up to this day.
TRI has endeavored to pave the way for execution of research projects by making
some changes to management procedures during recent years, using past
experiences, employing specialized manpower, and enjoying results of the
completed projects. The important role of research in directing development
plans has made the government to invest huge sums of money in this respect. TRI
has been appointed by the Ministry of Roads and Transportation to develop a
suitable environment for research activities in all aspects of transportation.
TRI has employed researchers and specialists in various fields of transportation
to draw strategies and define essential projects to fulfill the needs of the
country. The research sector is also responsible for determination of priorities
of transportation problems in both public and private sectors. Titles of
research programs and projects are announced annually within the framework of
TRI by its departments. Required information about projects may either be
provided by ICT Unit or through publishing in the widely-circulating dailies. To
obtain tender documents, those parties who are interested in participating, are
requested to visit www.tri.gov.ir or write to TRI. Qualified individual or legal
consultants may send their offer within the specified period by filling out
project worksheets. Project Approval Committee will review the tender documents
to select the best offer. The committee consists of members who are specialized
in related fields of project. Submitted proposals to the Committee will be
assessed thoroughly. All major factors for selecting the best option will be
explored and the most competent consultant will be selected.
